Our Staff

  Take a few moments to become acquainted with our

"Staff"

Jim & Scott, our handlers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 "Rowdy"
Rowdy was a 25" tall stallion. That's about as small as an adult miniature horse comes. He was our first miniature and the namesake of our company. With his small stature and gentle disposition he quickly became a beloved icon in the French Quarter. Unfortunately Rowdy passed away during Mardi Gras in 2009, but his inspiration will live on .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lucky

Isn't he a beauty? Lucky is now 3 years old and almost an exact replica of his daddy, Midnight.
He didn't grow nearly as large as his daddy but he did inherit his calm, docile disposition.
Lucky  joined the Petting Zoo  in July 2014.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Midnight
 Midnight
Midnight is a 32" tall stallion.
He's extremely gentle and quite a
 looker!  Midnight was our riding pony.
He is not semi retired and he's earned it!
Midnight occasionally steps in for the Petting Zoo and he's available for rides for
very small children, 50lbs. and under
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Daisy

 Unlike most of our little guys, she is not
a miniature horse, she is a medium sized Shetland pony.

Daisy gives pony rides for children up to 70 lbs.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ginger
Daisy came to us complete with a beautiful little option-
a  day old little filly.
Now, at 8 years old Ginger has grown to be a beautiful young lady and she's made a wonderful addition to the Petting Zoo. Since she is half Shetland pony and half mini horse she will not grow as large as her mother.
Pepper
Daisy and Midnight surprised us again when she gave us
this little girl
Now she's 4 years old and a perfect Petting Zoo Pony
Molly!
Molly is the latest  member of the Midnight/Daisy family
She has been one of our favorites for the Petting Zoos. She is a calm and friendly as she is beautiful
Lexi!
When we first started Rowdy's Rascals we had Midnight, Autumn
and two adorable babies, Rascal and Dixie.
4 years ago little Dixie developed an bowel impaction and we lost her.
There had been a been a big hole in our little family so you can imagine how excited I was to find out that Dixie  had a baby sister that was identical to her. My only reaction to the news was
 "When can I pick her up?"
She is everything we expected and more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 Rascal

    Rowdy's Little Rascal is a 13 year old miniature horse.
He is the only son of Rowdy and namesake of the Company

 He's made a beautiful & fun addition to our family
and he is a delight at the Petting Zoos

Summer

Our little Princess

After several unfortunate losses Autumn and Midnight finally surprised us with a beautiful little filly June 2011. Now at just over 9 years old Summer has blossomed
into a sweet  little lady. She's a real asset to our petting zoo.

Sadie!

Summer surprised us early September with this
beautiful little girl-
a baby MULE!

Sadie is just starting her training at two weeks old and should be a staple at the parties by October

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sadie was followed on May 1 by her half sister
Teenie!
She was a preemie and since her momma didn't have any milk,
she rejected Teenie. She's being raised on the the bottle
along with to kittens that were orphaned the day before she was born.
She id her first party the following weekend and she's been a big hit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Two weeks later, on Mother's Day little Ginger had her first baby, ANOTHER mini mule, this time a boy that we named

Mattie!

Since momma is a littler possessive right now, Mattie won't be doing parties for a couple of weeks or so

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cowboy
Cowboy is a beautiful 10 year old miniature horse.
He is a Champagne Palomino which means that he is very
pale gold with a white mane and tail.
Goats
 The Goats change thru-out the year
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mary Hadda (Little Lamb)

Mary is a 1 year old lamb.
She came to us unexpectedly. A local farmer called and said that one of his ewes had birthed twins, and rejected the little girl. He said that I could take her or he's just let her die. I picked her up immediately and brought her home, she was two hours old.

She grew up inside on the bottle. Now she's  part of a motley Krewe
that consist of her, a black lab, an outcast goat and stray cat.
They all sleep in a pile on the front veranda

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peanut*
Late one night mid-March I found what I thought was a
dead, newborn baby goat laying in a mud puddle in the pen.
When I picked it up I felt a faint heartbeat so I brought her in and spent 3 hours warming her with a heating pad and a blow dryer until her body temp reached normal. She took a bottle with no problem but was unable to even
raise her head. I didn't have much hope for her but I kept working with her.
For four days she lay motionless on the sofa, taking her bottle
and being
turned every 2 hours. On day 5 she stood up,
took her first step
and has been going ever since.
S
he has grown into a healthy active little girl
and she is a star in the petting zoos
Ajax
Speaking of ears....Ajax came to us March 18th, 2011 as a 2 day old baby. His mother rejected him at birth and we were able to take him in and raise him on the bottle.
He is a sweet funny little man and we are thrilled to have
him join our little family.
Watch him showing off his stuff on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOBijdwiBAM
Ajax is now the oldest of three miniature donkeys.
We also have Donkey Hotey and Sassy, out little spotted jenny
Issac
Isaac is a miniature Mule,a cross between a donkey and a horse.
He was born during the middle of Hurricane Issac
and he's such a sweet, tiny little man.
*NOTE!
Many of our staff members are babies. Farm animals grow quickly and we cannot change the photos on the webpage weekly.  The animals pictured may look different when they arrive at your event.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gabbie     Gabbie was raised on the bottle from 2 days old. As a result she grew up in the house, where she jumped around like a demented  flea.  Here the camera caught her in mid-air.

Baby Goats!

They grow up so quickly but when they are babies there is nothing funnier or more entertaining. Below are photos and video links showing the goats when they were babies..

 Watch their antics on YouTube:
